A Medical Oncologist specializes in the use of chemotherapy drugs to treat cancer. While radiation and surgery are limited to specific areas of treatment, chemotherapy can treat widespread cancers by affecting the whole body. Chemotherapeutic agents attack and kill cancer cells, with the goal to cure or halt progression of the disease.
