MEDICAL ONCOLOGY

Medical Oncologists specialize in the use of chemotherapy drugs to treat cancer. While radiation and surgery are limited to specific areas of treatment, chemotherapy can treat widespread cancers by affecting the whole body. Chemotherapeutic agents attack and kill cancer cells, with the goal to cure or halt progression of the disease. Our medical oncologists often work with other sub-specialists, such as radiation or gynecologic oncologists, and combine treatments to maximize effectiveness.

Each treatment plan is unique and your medical oncologist will decide on the best path of care, often in consultation with radiation and/or gynecologic oncology physician partners.
