Our primary goal at Oncology Hematology Care is to achieve
the best outcome for each patient. For some, this will be a cure, but for others
we will eventually need to deal with a disease process which cannot be cured.
Palliative and hospice care helps people with incurable
illness live their final days with peace, comfort and dignity. Caregivers try
to control pain and other symptoms so a person can remain as alert and
comfortable as possible. If you and your doctor decide to shift to
palliative/hospice care, it does not necessarily mean that death is imminent.
Rather, this approach attempts to emphasize quality of life when traditional treatment
is no longer effective and may in fact be the source of suffering. Hospice
programs also provide services to support a patient's family.

care for yourself or your family member, please talk with your Oncology
